MS. PHILLIPS’ CLASSES: VIDEO PRODUCTION // ADVANCED VIDEO PRODUCTION/ITV // ANIMATION: Xander Lee
Xander is a first year Advanced Video/iTV student. Xander is our Lighting and Color Specialist and has done some phenomenal work so far this year. On set, he is not afraid to take initiative and try new and creative ways to light a scene. And although post production coloring is something new to Xander, he understands that color is an integral part of film, and has incredible power over how we perceive the film and the characters. Xander puts in many extra hours in post production coloring segments, which has really brought our segments to life. Specifically, Xander really helped make our 24 hour film project successful. The use of coloring in this project is what created the tone, led us through the journey, and create a dramatic impact on how we subconsciously relate to the characters. I am very proud of you, Xander! (Before and After Screen Shots Below from our 24 Hour Film Project)

From Mrs. Perales’ AP Studio Drawing class: Sophomore Do Won Suh.

Do Won’s work is exceptional in both skill and concept, seeking to go beyond the traditional, and attempts to connect to personal emotions and memories, many of which contain a bit of whimsy and humor wrapped into her concepts. She is able to look at her work constructively and from all angles. As a matter of fact, try looking at her blue self portrait upside down and see how her expression reacts. Do Won is eager to learn and to push herself to become a better artist and a story teller, connecting with the viewer on an emotional level.

AP 2D student, Julia Hui’s narrative illustrations push the boundaries of two-dimensional design. Her detailed, well-observed drawings merge time and space, juxtaposing interrelated images together to produce elaborate narratives. Julia’s work allows the viewer to escape into a world of delicately balanced chaos. Julia is an independent thinker with strong command of her emerging creative expression.
